Deleting your Kidloop account
Last updated: 7 September 2026 · Version: 1.1
Applies to: the Kidloop mobile app (iOS and Android) and the school admin panel at app.kidloop.gr
This is a faithful English translation of the Greek original, available at the same location, which prevails in case of any discrepancy. The app's interface is in Greek only; where a Greek label matters, it is given in quotation marks with an English gloss.
1. In short
- From inside the app. Parents: «Μενού» → «Διαγραφή λογαριασμού» ("Menu" → "Delete account"). Teachers and school staff: «Προφίλ» → «Διαγραφή λογαριασμού» ("Profile" → "Delete account").
- Or by email, from the address your account uses, to info@nanobyte.gr with the subject «Διαγραφή λογαριασμού».
- You do not need an account to make the request, and you do not need to be able to sign in.
- We act on it within one month, in line with Article 12(3) GDPR.
- Deleting your account is not the same as deleting your child's record. Read section 4 — this is the part people are most often surprised by.
- Deletion is carried out by a person, not automatically. We say so plainly because it is true; see section 6.
2. What "your account" means
Your Kidloop account is your sign-in identity: your email address, your password, the device registrations that let your phone receive notifications, and your notification preferences. It is what lets you into the app.
It is not the record of your child's day. That belongs to the school.
3. What is deleted, by who you are
| You are | What is deleted | What remains, and why |
|---|---|---|
| A parent or guardian | Your sign-in identity, your password, your phone's notification registrations, your notification settings, and your link to the child | Your child's care record, attendance and any photographs. These belong to the school, which decides how long to keep them. Your name may remain in the school's own records of who was linked to the child |
| A teacher or member of staff | Your sign-in identity, your password, your device registrations and your settings | The daily entries you recorded remain part of the children's records, which belong to the school. Your name may remain attached to entries you made, as the school's record of who recorded what |
| A school administrator | Your personal sign-in identity | The school's account and all of its children's data. Closing a school's account is a separate matter, decided by the school under its contract with us — write to info@nanobyte.gr |
4. Why deleting your account does not delete your child's record
The school is the controller of your child's data. It decides what is recorded, and for how long. We are the processor — we act on the school's instructions and have no right to erase a child's record on our own initiative.
So if what you want is your child's data deleted, rather than your own access to it:
- Ask the school. It is the controller and it decides.
- If the school needs technical help, or you get no reply, write to us at info@nanobyte.gr. We will forward your request to the school and support it technically.
This is the same route as section 11 of our [Privacy Policy](https://app.kidloop.gr/privacy/en), and nothing on this page narrows the rights described there — including your right to erasure under Article 17.
5. How to make the request
In the app. Open «Μενού» (parents) or «Προφίλ» (teachers), choose «Διαγραφή λογαριασμού», and confirm. The app shows you what will happen before you confirm, and nothing is sent until you do.
By email. Write to info@nanobyte.gr from the address your account uses, with the subject «Διαγραφή λογαριασμού». Tell us the name of your school. If you write from a different address we will need to verify your identity first — for the child's protection, not to obstruct you.
6. What happens next, and how long it takes
- We acknowledge your request.
- We notify your school, because it is the controller and the deletion affects its records.
- Your sign-in identity and the data listed in section 3 are removed.
- We confirm to you when it is done.
Within one month of the request (Article 12(3) GDPR). For a complex request the deadline may be extended by a further two months, and we will tell you if that happens and why.
Deletion is performed manually by named technical staff. There is no automated self-service erasure in Kidloop today. We would rather state that than imply an automation that does not exist. Our [Privacy Policy](https://app.kidloop.gr/privacy/en) says the same in section 10.
7. What deleting your account does to the app
You will be signed out and will not be able to sign in again. Your phone will stop receiving notifications. If your school later invites you again, you will receive a new invitation and set a new password — it will be a new account.
Deleting your account does not cancel your child's enrolment, and it does not affect your child's place at the school. Those are matters between you and the school.
8. Backups
Deleted data may persist for a short period in our database provider's routine backups before those are recycled. It is not restored to the live service and it is not used for anything. The exact retention window is set by our provider's plan.
